Descrizione: Frank Capra makes "LOST HORIZON" in 1937, based on a novel by the British writer James Hilton, which does not fit in with his idiosyncrasy, after winning the Oscars for Best Director for the films "IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT" (1934) and "MR DEEDS GOES TO TOWN" (1936), which was a big success in pre-war Hollywood. However, its remake as a musical in colour by British director Ross Hunter in 1973 was a flop. The synopsis of the film is as follows: After a plane crash, a group of people discovers a lost world in Tibet, the forbidden paradise of Shangri-La. It is a place completely cut-off from the rest of the world, which obeys its own laws; its inhabitants know the elixir of eternal youth". The programme concludes with a list of other films that were adapted from James Hilton's novels.
